Haus Frau = House Wife Life

Today at the Bank they asked for my profession I didn't know what to say so it took us a moment to figure it out, it was kind of funny.  The other woman there said Haus Frau.  So I'm thinking today of the things that I am getting used to here in Germany regarding everyday Haus Frau life. 
We live on an island in the Rhein connected by a street bridge to Vallendar.  It is called Niederwerth.  We live at the back of a house here above the garages.  It is a good size apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen closet.  You will see what I mean by that.  Laundry takes a lot more work here - we are blessed to have a washer of our own as our apartment came furnished all except for beds.  It isn't all my taste necessarily but a blessing anyway.  No dryer, so it takes a long time to dry and draping everything all over the place.  Heat - we have those radiator type heaters in each room of the house.  I didn't know I would miss central heat, etc. but it has its advantages and disadvantages too.  Those make for quick drying we have one for towel warming in the bathroom too. Muhl=Trash I don't even know what to throw away and what not too.  I have to have Georg go over that with me sometime better.  Though he is learning again too.  It is a good thing, but not something I thought I would be having to figure out, all the time, is this regular trash or does this work for the plastics bag or the paper bag or the glass we have to drop off or the plastic we get money back for.  I have made a bag for things I think can be recycled but to sort later. 

Our Kuhlschrank=Refrigerator is very small.  In fact I couldn't find it when I first got here.  I knew they were smaller here, but this one is small even for German standards.  See the picture, but the way things are here, it actually works ok so far.  Our freezer is really funny - we put one thing in and it was full but they really don't do much frozen things.
