The Road to Minnesota

We started out in Salt Lake City on I-80 going East and that took us pretty much all the way to Minnesota. We got to see my sister Amy & her boys, the Bascoms on Wednesday and my lovely Grandpa Pack. We stopped by my Grandma's grave and took pictures and showed them to him since her gravestone has been put in place. She passed away on March 3 this year and I miss her very much. I know Grandpa is even more, it breaks my heart. They were together for 72 beautiful years!! They have been such great examples to me. I just love and adore them so much. I miss Grandpa, I talked to him just the other day and he vocally said I love you to me for the first time I can ever remember. We don't think he will be around much longer and I will miss him but I will be happy for him to be with Grandma again. He has such a sense of humor, it is so cute, he is always cracking jokes with me. That's where my Dad got his humor for sure!

Well, on the trip our first stop was in Rawlins, Wyoming. Georg's sister is Anne Hickenlooper and her husband has been travelling here quite frequently for business. It just so happened that they were there with him this week since the kids were off track with school. So we exited right off I-80 and there was there hotel where we met up and went to lunch together. The kids were so excited they insisted that we call them when we were at the exit, they watched us pull of the freeway and come around the curve with our Penske truck, then they came running towards us as we parked. It was so cute. We sure are going to miss all of our wonderful nephews and niece. We had lunch at a local mexican restaurant in Sinclair right near the plant at La Casa and took these fun pictures with the kids. Then carried on for miles and miles.

We were forced to stop for the night on the outskirts of Kearney, Nebraska. It turns out that if we hadn't spent the hour we did with the Hickenloopers in Rawlins we would have been right in Kearney in the middle of a tornado and most likely would have been turned right over like a lot of the semitrucks. Luckily the Lord was looking out for us. The power lines were knocked over and all the power was out past where we stayed and the freeway closed, so we stopped and slept. In the morning, it was really foggy so we couldn't see much but later on saw about 3 semis on their side. Scary glad that wasn't us.

Finally out of Nebraska, it got really boring looking at miles of not much, but into Iowa, it was beautiful and reminded us of Germany, without the castles and churches everywhere. There were so many beautiful farms and fields, the typical white house and red barn all throughout. We took pictures of our plants that we kept in the cab with us. Especially for Mama since she gave us the hanging plant, this is for her.

We finally made it to Minnesota and were so thrilled. Georg did a great job with the apartment. It is really nice and much bigger than our last place. We will post pictures soon.
