North Shore - Lake Superior - Minnesota

We took a trip up North to Duluth and Twin Harbors along Lake Superior before we said goodbye to Minnesota.  It was an absolutely wonderful trip!  We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and the getaway together.  We stayed at a RailCar Bed & Breakfast and slept in a real rail car, it was so neat!

We saw the Last of the Largest locomotives, and see how huge it was with Laura standing by it.

We also attempted to swim in Lake Superior, as we had braved and been successful, though it was cold in Germany at Konigsee, King's Lake, in Berchtesgaden.  Not successful here, it was way too cold, and others were in wetsuits, but we enjoyed the beach anyway.  We decided we need wetsuits.

A few reccomendations if you take the trip;
   Scenic Cafe, delicious gourmet food, a little pricey, but worth it, it is along the Scenic Drive leaving Duluth and heading into Twin Harbors
   Betty's Pies; honestly the best pie I believe we have ever had and a darling story of Betty opening her first little shack to serve her father and other fishermen.  We had a fruit combination pie and it was oh so good.
   Railcar B & B; it was great and a fun experience and tucked away, for seclusion, unlike Duluth's hustle and bustle.

                                                                                    Gooseberry Falls, gorgeous waterfalls and hiking.

Iona's Pebble Beach, they mention the beautiful tinkling sound of the rocks when the waves come in and out and it is simply soothing and peaceful.

    We would encourage you to make the time and go up further along Lake Superior up closer to Canada, we didn't have the time, but wished we could have, even more spectacular views.
