It's been a busy couple of months for us. So just a quick recap! September was our 1st year Anniversary! I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to be married to my sweetheart and best friend. We just love being together. Georg is the best husband ever.
My Mom and I did take the drive from Texas to Minnesota(end of August and into September), with some of my things that were still back home at the parents. Our friend Paula came along for the ride and we had a great time. There is something about women and how we can talk about pretty much anything, time went by super fast, well and plus we stopped often for the ladies room, between the three of us. We had a great time having company, and it worked out well enough in our apartment. We enjoyed doing some sightseeing with them. They also enjoyed our entertainment of love, Georg also loves to get a reaction out of my Mom.
In October, Georg and I both celebrated our birthdays. I turned 25! Georg treated me so well, he was true to what his Mama told him, to make sure to spoil me and my mom said of course, he always does. Yeah, it is amazing, though I still pass for one of the girls when I am out, they all think I am younger than 18. It has happened on numerous occasions. The most recent when Georg and I were out door to door collecting food for the local food bank. We met a kid that was from Germany as a foreign exchange student and he was excited to tell me all about the exchange program and that I should come to Germany. Georg thought that was kind of funny and we both didn't have the heart to tell him that I was much older and married for that matter.
Georg had a really great birthday as well. I surprised him with a GPS and he acted like a little boy getting the best toy in the entire world. It is pretty amazing and we love it. We call it Tommie, or Tomina depending on the voice it has. It is so helpful. We used it when we drove to Nauvoo, Illinois for Thanksgiving to meet up with most of my family and it made the trip a breeze. We don't get lost anymore, especially when we go to new places.
Nauvoo was great. I will have to most more particularly about it at a later time, but we really enjoyed the few days we were there. I got to find some great Family History, and we went to the Temple the day we left. It was absolutely beautiful, it is definitely a must see. It is so gorgeous inside and I couldn't help but think of my ancestors going there themselves and being in somewhat the same place as they were. We even got to go on a wagon ride pulled by Oxen, Gary & Gabe. I even got to hug Gary, I think he wanted me to kiss him too, but I decided he would need a bath before that happened. We walked on Parley Street, the one the saints took as they left Nauvoo with mixed emotions. It is now called the Trail of Hope, and I think that was one of the most moving experiences as we walked the whole route to the Mississippi River, shivering as they must have.
Also, I started at IKEA one of my favorite places in the world to shop, and after a little while found it wasn't a good fit for me, as an employee. I don't know if it is how all IKEA's run, but they were very unflexible in working with a preferred schedule and I knew my priorities as much as I may like IKEA are not with them, they are with my family and my sweet husband, so I resigned. It wasn't easy to do, but I am glad that I did. Georg was a great support. I am now back at Bath & Body Works for the Holidays at least. I worked there in my early college days when I would go home to Texas and always really enjoyed it. It is a perfect place for me, I love people and it is just a fun environment. All the people I have worked with in Texas and now Minnesota are awesome. So it is a busy season for us!
I just got called as second-counselor in our Young Women's Program in our Ward, working with the teenage girls at church. They are so great! I have been an advisor for the past couple of months and working with Lorri Beth, my buddy with Down Syndrome. She is the absolute coolest person I know. Sorry everyone, but if you knew her like I do, I think you would agree. So I still get to work with her, but more goodness.
